ODEC
One dance European city
ODEC is an international project using dance and performing arts to explore the cross-border conurbation of Nova Gorica and Gorica.
The project contributed to the strategy of Nova Gorica–Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025 by promoting the idea of a single open city without borders, engaging citizens and enhancing tourism attractiveness.
Twelve itinerant events, each consisting of 9 stages, guided participants through a performative journey across the conurbation of Nova Gorica and Gorizia. The events were presented over 6 days in October 2025. The implementation involved 25 choreographers and performers, 30 students from the Dance High School of Udine, technicians, set designers, costume designers, musicians, and numerous other professionals.
As part of the GO! 2025 strategy, ODEC contributed to imagining and making visible the idea of a single open city, where the border dissolved and gave way to connection. Video artists Michele Pupo and Ruben Vuaran documented and conveyed this experience through the documentary film ODEC – A Cross-Border Experience, which combines original images and the voices of the protagonists, offering an intimate and engaging perspective on the project.
