GO! Europe: A Well-Attended Celebration of Europe Day

10.05.2026
GO! EUROPE

On the occasion of Europe Day on 9 May, the EGTC GO celebrated the values of cross-border cooperation with “GO! EUROPE”, an event that involved local citizens in a day dedicated to discovering projects implemented thanks to European funding in the Gorizia and Nova Gorica area.

Around eighty participants took part in the three thematic itineraries organised by EGTC GO, enjoying an experience focused on culture, sustainability and the enhancement of the cross-border area, also favoured by the good weather that accompanied the event.

The symbolic starting point of the event was Transalpina / Europe Square, redeveloped in 2024 thanks to European funding under the coordination of EGTC GO and now an emblematic place of integration between Gorizia and Nova Gorica.

Through the proposed itineraries, participants had the opportunity to discover first-hand some of the concrete results achieved thanks to European programmes and the GO! 2025 Small Project Fund, a tool co-financed by the European Union within the framework of the Interreg Italy–Slovenia 2021–2027 Programme and managed by EGTC GO.

The first itinerary, connected to the SPF GO! 2025 Walk2Spirit project, led participants along the final stage of the Gorizia Way – Iter Goritiense, from Piazza Transalpina to Sveta Gora / Monte Santo, along a route of great scenic and spiritual value.

The second route, linked to the Ars Sine Finibus and ZAFA25 projects, also financed through the SPF GO! 2025 fund, was instead a 36-kilometre cycling itinerary. Participants travelled along the cross-border cycling paths built by EGTC GO as part of the ITI Isonzo-Soča project, with stops at the Astronomical Observatory of Farra d’Isonzo (ZAFA25 project) and the Gradis’ciutta Winery in Giasbana (Ars Sine Finibus project), combining art and science.

Finally, the third event offered a historical and literary route of approximately 4 kilometres between Gorizia and Nova Gorica, organised within the framework of the SPF GO! 2025 projects Ljubkina Pot and Cross Stories, accompanied by an Italian-Slovenian bilingual guide who illustrated the cultural and historical heritage of the two cities, particularly linked to the legacy of local women poets.
