BorderLabs CE: EGTC GO at the final event in Budapest

IMG_5238

A delegation from the EGTC GO took part in the final event of the BorderLabs CE project in Budapest, bringing together project partners to share the results achieved, review the final activities, and discuss future perspectives for cross-border cooperation in Central Europe.

Within the framework of the project, the EGTC GO developed a pilot action aimed at promoting sustainable slow tourism in the cross-border area between Italy and Slovenia, with the goal of enhancing cycling mobility and promoting the area's natural and cultural assets. Among the activities carried out was the installation of a network of bicycle counters to monitor cycling and pedestrian flows between Gorizia and Nova Gorica.

During the two-day event in Budapest, EGTC GO Director Romina Kocina participated in a round-table discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities of territorial cooperation in the context of geopolitical changes and the future enlargement of the European Union.

Particular attention was given to the launch of the BorderLabs CE Multimedia Learning Platform, an online platform that will collect good practices, tools, and results developed within the project. Although still under development, the platform aims to become a key reference point for organisations, institutions and stakeholders interested in cross-border cooperation, fostering the exchange of experiences, mutual learning and the creation of new partnerships across Europe.

The event also featured the presentation of the Charter for Participatory Cross-Border Cooperation Governance in Central Europe, a document proposing a shared vision for strengthening cross-border cooperation through more participatory governance, improved spatial planning, and the gradual removal of administrative and regulatory barriers that still hinder collaboration between neighbouring territories.

The Charter, which will be promoted through the new platform, represents one of the project's key achievements and a practical tool for ensuring the continuity of the work initiated by BorderLabs CE, engaging institutions, professionals and citizens in building a more connected, cohesive and resilient Central Europe.
