The EGTC GO Assembly, the decision-making body composed of representatives of the founding municipalities of Gorizia, Nova Gorica and Šempeter-Vrtojba, met on Wednesday, 22 July, at the EGTC GO headquarters in Corso Italia 55. Among the items on the agenda were communications regarding the appointment of new Assembly members by the Municipalities of Nova Gorica and Šempeter-Vrtojba, with the consequent update of the body's composition; the discussion and election of the President and Vice-President of the Assembly and of the EGTC GO; and the appointment of members and coordinators of the Permanent Committees.

The members of the EGTC GO Assembly serve four-year terms. The new Assembly members appointed by the Municipality of Nova Gorica and approved on Wednesday are Anton Komel, Vesna Humar, Martina Murovec, Andrej Šušmelj and Matevž Vidmar, while the Municipality of Šempeter-Vrtojba confirmed Vlasta Mozetič and Ivo Podbersič as its representatives. The terms of the members appointed by the Municipality of Gorizia will instead expire in June 2028.

At the proposal of the mayors, and considering that a large portion of the Assembly has recently been renewed, it was agreed to postpone the election of the President and Vice-President of the EGTC GO to a dedicated Assembly meeting. This meeting will take place on 9 September, allowing Assembly members time to discuss and exchange views.

Following the approval of the new organizational structure during the previous Assembly meeting, with thematic groupings more closely aligned with the needs of the territory, the names put forward by the three municipalities were approved during today's meeting. Each Committee consists of approximately nine members, appointed by the three participating municipalities in proportion to their representation, and includes both external technical experts and internal members from the local authorities. Internal members may be either political or technical representatives and may vary depending on the topics discussed at individual meetings. The Permanent Committees are designed as an advisory, inclusive and flexible tool, easily adaptable to the needs of the territory and to the various thematic clusters covered by the committees. To allow the new Assembly members sufficient time to familiarize themselves with the issues under discussion, it was also decided to postpone the appointment of the committee coordinators until the next Assembly meeting. Coordinators will be chosen from among the Assembly members in order to ensure a constant link between the technical and decision-making levels, while maintaining the Committees as an operational tool supporting a bottom-up approach to project development.
