Cross Stories

SPF Cross stories cover

Cross-border stories for a common future

The "Cross Stories" project aims to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Gorizia and Nova Gorica through an educational and empowering approach for the younger generation. Its innovation lies in the creation of a digital show called "The Telescope that Breaks Down the Border Stories" to improve access to cultural heritage. The project includes cross-border events and the installation of 11 totems through which a glimpse of the city is visible.

The totems are small metal structures featuring "viewfinders" placed at a height accessible to both average-height adults and elementary school children.
Through the top viewfinder, visitors can observe a framed view of the city with the naked eye, while the lower viewfinders show a historical photograph of Gorizia or Nova Gorica taken from the exact same viewpoint as the totem, but in a different historical period.
Next to each viewfinderthe year of the historical photo is indicated along with a brief historical description of the location.
The totem does not require electricity, is autonomous and self-supportingand is designed for permanent installation.
Each totem also includes a QR code for accessing additional historical information.
