èStoriaBus for Families
THE CELESTIAL WAY
This excursion includes the walking route corresponding to the prologue of the Celestial Way. Leaving aside the official starting point, namely the Island of Barbana, the route begins from Grado, following the cycle path and dirt roads to the San Marco pinewood, a place traditionally believed to have welcomed the Evangelist who came from Alexandria in Egypt to evangelize Aquileia. From there, along the lagoon embankment, participants will reach Aquileia where, after lunch, it will be possible to take part in a guided tour of the basilica and archaeological sites. The total walking distance is approximately 12 km, entirely flat, with about 3 hours of actual walking time. Sneakers or trekking shoes are recommended.
NB: participants must possess a valid travel document for crossing the border.
