Triple Somersault Festival (Poject PS CIRKUS)

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The Trojne Salte Festival is a community festival of contemporary circus, clowning, and performing arts, taking place this year for the first time under the roof of Slovenia’s first circus tent.

The programme includes performances, concerts, open and guided circus workshops, community events, open stage sessions, and the participation of local artists and communities.

The festival creates an open space for meeting, creativity, and learning, where art, circus pedagogy, and community practices come together. It was conceived as a continuation of the long-standing development of contemporary and community circus in Slovenia, as well as a platform connecting local and international circus practices.

Participation is free of charge. The full programme is available on Cirkokrog’s Facebook page or on the website festivaltrojnesalte.kompot.si

Workshop – Artists Lumoskop Lab (Poject Light the future)

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Big stories in a small format. In this workshop, participants will explore the twin cities of Nova Gorica and Gorizia with the artists of Lumoskop_lab as a space of borders and crossings. Participants will reflect with the artists on the future of this border region, considering its challenges and potential in light of the reintroduction of border controls and questioning the meaning of “borderlessness”. The focus will be on the Soča River, considering it as both a border and a historical witness, and participants will condense their impressions into small visual expressions. Using gobo projection, we will project images onto glass discs with a diameter of just 2.8 cm – a small format for big ideas. Lumoskop_lab develops artistic research projects in which light plays a central role as an expressive and spatial medium. Through its use, the work explores the relationships between humans and their environment, creating visual interventions that engage our perception and experience of space.

Free workshop. Open to all young people up to 30 years old. To register, please write to: zavodror@gmail.com

Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Economic Campus San Giobbe, Fondamenta San Giobbe 873, Venice

Summer School Light the Future (Project Light the future)

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Suspended between water and land, Venice is an amphibious city crossed by residents, commuters and tourists. It becomes a laboratory for exploring the fluidity of physical, economic and generational borders. In dialogue with Nova Gorica and Gorizia, where the border is now crossed through relationships, projects and shared visions, Venice is a place where borders are fluid.

The program weaves together different dimensions:

- Lectures and seminars held by researchers and professors from Ca’ Foscari University offer interdisciplinary perspectives on the concepts of borders, collective imagination, and active citizenship;

- Direct exploration of the city through walking practices, listening exercises, and visual and sound documentation is guided by the artists who have already accompanied participants in the Nova Gorica residencies: using art-based research practices, young participants observe Venice and collect materials that will feed into the final public presentations;

- Encounters with cultural operators, associations, and local activists connect theoretical reflection with concrete examples of active citizenship and the collective shaping of the city’s future.

All activities are free of charge and will be held in English. A portion of the budget is allocated to cover travel and accommodation expenses for Slovenian participants. 10 participants will be selected to attend the Ca’ Foscari University Foundation’s Summer School in Venice.
