On Friday 28th and Saturday 29th August, the Borderless Beer Fest returns to Piazza Transalpina, between Gorizia and Nova Gorica, now in its sixth edition.

One of the most original and symbolic events of the cross-border summer, now a consolidated tradition among the events that enliven our region. The event is the result of a collaboration between two cross-border breweries: the Antica Contea Brewery in Gorizia and the Reservoir Dogs Brewery in Nova Gorica. The 2026 edition will be enriched by the OPENWAVE MUSIC CONTEST, which builds on the cultural and value legacy of GO! 2025 – Nova Gorica-Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025, fully sharing its strategic vision based on transcending borders and promoting cross-border cooperation. The Contest aims to showcase the energy and creativity of young bands from Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Slovenia, fostering encounters between talents, regions, and cultures that find their natural space of expression in the borderless context of GO! 2025. The cross-border music competition is promoted by EGTC GO with the organizational support of Openwave and the Antica Contea Brewery, dedicated to young bands from Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia. The initiative was created with the aim of promoting emerging talents from the cross-border area and offering them a significant opportunity for visibility and artistic growth.After two pre-selection nights in July, the six finalist bands will perform on stage at the Borderless Beer Fest.

During both nights, the audience, along with the jury, will vote for the best band of each night, who will win the contest prize based on performance, technique, lyrics and composition, and originality.
