GO2FLY
Accessible Flight through Virtual Reality
The objective of the GO2FLY project was to develop sustainable sports tourism through cross-border paragliding, both in physical and virtual form. The project connected flying areas in Italy and Slovenia through a tourism, social and technological development initiative that crossed borders on the ground in the same way as an athlete does during free flight.
In both territories, the project promoted the development of a common standard of infrastructure, equipment, accommodation facilities and services, both in the air and on the ground, in order to provide users with a comprehensive tourism offer, which had previously been lacking.
The project focused on three key areas: the development of shared flying experiences, the creation of a comprehensive tourism package, and the development of a virtual flying system. The approach to achieving these results and delivering the project outputs was based on cross-border cooperation between the municipal authority and the public tourism office, with the involvement of local sports associations.
