By participating for the first time in the Annual General Assembly held in Bilbao from 27 to 29 May 2026, EGTC GO has officially joined the EUREGHA – European Regional and Local Health Authorities - network, further strengthening its commitment to cross-border healthcare cooperation and the exchange of good practices at European level.

EUREGHA is the reference network for regional and local health authorities in Europe. Bringing together 26 members from over 17 countries, it promotes the exchange of knowledge and expertise with the aim of improving the efficiency and quality of health systems and services. Its mission is to connect regional and local health authorities in order to enhance European health policies and foster collaboration with EU institutions and major health organisations.

EGTC GO’s decision to join EUREGHA, formally as of April 2026, builds on its solid experience in cross-border healthcare cooperation between Italy and Slovenia. The EGTC GO has implemented several EU-funded projects and has worked through its Health Committee to address the concrete needs of the cross-border area.

In particular, EGTC GO was the sole beneficiary of two ITI projects funded by the Interreg Italy–Slovenia 2014–2020 Programme: Isonzo–Soča and Salute–Zdravstvo. The latter (2017–2022) helped improve the quality and accessibility of socio-health services by creating a cross-border network aimed at better serving citizens in the area of the three municipalities.

In 2025, EGTC GO also launched the Sanitas project under the Interreg Italy–Slovenia 2021–2027 Programme, addressing climate change challenges through strengthened cooperation in healthcare and emergency management.

Joining EUREGHA is therefore a strategic step for achieving EGTC GO’s objectives, enabling it to expand its network, foster new projects, and intensify the exchange of experiences at European level.

During the EUREGHA Annual General Assembly in Bilbao, EGTC GO Director Romina Kocina presented the activities and experience of the EGTC GO, highlighting its role in promoting cross-border healthcare cooperation between Italy and Slovenia.
