Project budget: € 1.103.200,00 (out of which €100.800,00 for EGTC GO project activities)
Project objective: Strengthening the resilience of Central European cross-border regions to the disruptive impact of climate change, by integrating different solutions developed in the framework of Interreg Central Europe projects and adapting them to cross-border and transnational contexts.
Activities:
- Develop a comprehensive solution to support climate adaptation and enhance resilience to climate change in the Central European region: the CENTRAdapt method. The CENTRAdapt method will integrate a number of tools and strategies developed in the framework of the projects Mission CE Climate, SuPeRBE, INACO, and Central Mountains, funded under the Interreg Programme VI-B Central Europe 2021-2027, and adapt them to cross-border and transnational contexts, in order to provide local communities with a tool to build climate adaptation strategies and action plans.
- Test the CENTRAdapt method on a small scale in two cross-border areas and one transnational region:
- the Gorizia-Nova Gorica cross-border area (IT-SI)
- Teschen Silesia (PL-CZ)
- the Alpine region.
- The pilot action will focus on testing the functional workflows of each component of the CENTRAdapt method and its applicability to cross-border and transnational areas rather than testing the individual tools, whose validity has already been confirmed in the framework of the capitalised projects. The results of the pilot in the three cross-border areas and feedback from the stakeholder groups involved will inform the preparation of the final version of the CENTRAdapt method.
- Translate the CENTRAdapt method into three concrete, place-based strategies: two Cross-border Adaptation Plans (for the functional areas of Gorizia–Nova Gorica and Teschen Silesia) and an Adaptation Strategy for Alpine border territories (for the Alpine Pearls EGTC).
- Prepare citizen guides, providing recommendations and enabling residents to actively participate in adaptation measures.
- Organise workshops and other dissemination activities across the Programme area to promote the CENTRAdapt method as a replicable tool for climate adaptation in both cross-border and transnational contexts.
