As of December 28, the new website for the European Capital of Culture will go online, showcasing all proposals from the Nova Gorica-Gorizia area and beyond in 2024

On December 18, exactly three years after being awarded the title of European Capital of Culture for Nova Gorica and Gorizia, the preview for the cross-border platform "Borderless Wireless" was unveiled. A cornerstone of the bid document and one of the most anticipated projects in the region, it was introduced in the presence of Barbara Zilli, Finance Councillor of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, and Rodolfo Ziberna and Samo Turel, Mayors of Gorizia and Nova Gorica, respectively. Managed by GECT GO, the platform will be accessible to the public as of December 28, 2023.

"Borderless Wireless" is more than just a website: it is a sophisticated digital platform based on a shared strategic plan. The plan has been swiftly implemented, through a participatory design process with key regional stakeholders that aims to unite cultural and tourist offerings in a cross-border dimension.

Starting from December 28, one year ahead of the official 2025 program, visitors will be able to navigate a trilingual website (English, Slovenian, Italian) at www.go2025.eu. The site will present all projects and news from the official program of the European Capital of Culture in a user-friendly and intuitive manner. Despite the complexity of managing three languages, the platform will achieve the standards of information dissemination met by other European Capitals of Culture, while representing the first transborder European Capital.

In 2024, the second phase of the project's development will be implemented, incorporating tourist information on experiences available in the region into the platform. In essence, the platform aims to digitally offer everything typically presented by a tourist destination, providing maximum support so that visitors can enjoy the cultural value of this transborder destination.

Tourists and local residents consulting the platform will be able to quickly access all information and proposals from the cross-border area that support the European Capital of Culture. It will be possible to plan and book experiences in the Borderless territory through a single portal.

The "Borderless Wireless" project is coordinated by the Project Manager of GECT GO, Giulio Selvazzo. When presenting the Strategic Plan, he proposed and activated a participatory design process that would achieve the project’s goals by involving relevant Italian and Slovenian institutions, known as First Level Stakeholders. These stakeholders are already working to integrate their operational systems, each pertaining to a specific sector (cultural, tourist, services, hospitality, logistics, etc.), with the GO! 2025 platform. The interactive design process is currently underway, with some participants already formally confirmed. Entities involved so far include PromoTurismo FVG, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Gorizia, Confcommercio Gorizia, Fondazione Aquileia, the Culture and Sports Directorate of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Fundacija Poti miru v Posočju, Območna Razvojna Agencija Krasa in Brkinov, Zavod za turizem, kulturo, mladino in šport Brda, Javni zavod za turizem Nova Gorica in Vipavska dolina, Turizem Dolina Soče, and Zavod za turizem Idrija.

While awaiting final confirmations, GECT GO will continue its cross-border promotional efforts to support the cultural program of GO! 2025. Beginning in early 2024, third parties will have the opportunity to include their events on the site. The portal was designed by Studio But Maybe, the creator of the coordinated image of the Capital of Culture, and developed by Kumbe, an agency from Trento specializing in tourist websites.
