Nova Gorica and Gorizia in the Spotlight of the EU

Copernicus, the European Union's territory observation program, has turned the spotlight on our two cities, which together become the first "borderless" European Capital of Culture.
This is the first time in 40 years (since 1985, when the European Commission established the first European Capital of Culture) that this prestigious recognition is being awarded to two cross-border cities.
For this occasion, Copernicus has dedicated a satellite image to the area of Nova Gorica (Slovenia) and Gorizia (Italy), which from space appear as, in fact, a single territory united by the emerald river.
