GO! 2025, the digital platform is increasingly popular with tourists and locals

The ambitious strategy of the EGTC GO continues with momentum, promoting a cross-border narrative of the region between Italy and Slovenia as part of GO! 2025 – Nova Gorica and Gorizia European Capital of Culture. The digital project Borderless Wireless, with its platform go2025.eu, has proven to be an effective and innovative tool to showcase the “Borderless Area” and engage both tourists and residents through an accessible, interactive, and shared information network.
Launched in December 2023 after several development phases, the portal (www.go2025.eu) introduced in January 2025 a range of innovative tools, including the web app “Wherever you GO!” (app.go2025.eu), Web TV, information totems, and printed promotional materials. This cutting-edge digital ecosystem has already surpassed 2 million views since January 2025, with average visit times exceeding 2 minutes on the portal and 5 minutes on the app. Users are connecting not only from Italy and Slovenia but also from Austria, Germany, and Croatia. But it’s not just about tourism: in 485 days of operation, the “Participate” section collected over 300 trademark license requests for the GO! 2025 brand and more than 350 event proposals from citizens and associations in the cross-border area.
It’s a dynamic, community-driven information ecosystem fueled by strong interest in the Capital of Culture. In the first half of 2025 alone, Google searches (impressions) related to the project exceeded 7 million. This interest is also reflected in the impressive volume of content available. In less than a year and a half, Borderless Wireless has gathered and published 1,890 cultural and artistic events, 510 news articles, 2,590 accommodation listings, 870 experiences and points of interest and 180 dining options.
All content is available in three languages, updated in real time, and integrated into a simple, intuitive interface for a truly borderless experience. In addition to the “Events” section—where users can download a personalized calendar—the popular “Visit” section allows users to plan their entire stay in the GO! 2025 territory. From exploring cultural sites and booking accommodations to viewing cross-border webcams and accessing real-time weather updates, users can dive into a fluid and connected journey through the region.
The success of Borderless Wireless is the result of participatory planning, which actively involved numerous cross-border stakeholders, including PromoTurismo FVG, Javni zavod za turizem Nova Gorica in Vipavska dolina, Fondazione Carigo, Confcommercio Gorizia, Fundacija Poti miru v Posočju, Javni Zavod Miren Kras, Območna Razvojna Agencija Krasa in Brkinov, Zavod za turizem, kulturo, mladino in šport Brda, Zavod za turizem Idrija, Fondazione Aquileia, Soča Valley Tourist Board, Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce, Trieste and Gorizia, Department of Culture and Sport of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Department of Labor, Training, Education and Family, DMO Turismo Benečija, Goriški muzej Kromberk / Nova Gorica, Fondazione Palazzo Coronini Cronberg and Grado Impianti Turistici.
The project has also received both national and international recognition, including an award at the Food & Wine Tourism Forum in Piedmont, where it was honored as a best practice in participatory planning. The portal, which serves as the digital entry point to the European Capital of Culture, has also been featured by major international media such as BBC, The Guardian, Forbes, The Times, and Kleine Zeitung.
