Artists from the cross-border area at the Noè Grand Prize in Gradisca
As part of the activities of GO! 2025 – European Capital of Culture, a group of cross-border artists will take part from 26 to 29 November in the 2025 Noè Grand Prize, the historic event dedicated to wine and culture, which this year celebrates its sixtieth anniversary. The Municipality of Gradisca d’Isonzo and the EGTC GO are working together to bring back to the center of the event not only the region’s winemaking tradition, but also its cultural identity, offering artists a space for exchange in a symbolic location: the Palazzo dei Provveditori Veneti, a historic building constructed at the end of the 15th century and for many years the seat of the Venetian government.
The opening of the group exhibition will take place on Wednesday, 26 November at 6:00 p.m., with free admission, during the official opening evening of the Noè Prize. The ceremony will begin with greetings from the mayor, Alessandro Pagotto, followed by a talk by Stefano Cosma dedicated to the history of the Noè Prize statuette and the work of its creator, Adriano Visintin. Afterwards, the exhibition of cross-border artists will open, accompanied by a toast curated by AIS FVG.
The exhibition brings together artists from Slovenia, Italy, and other countries (but residing in the cross-border territory), who for months have been involved in the cultural program of GO! 2025. It is a group that has worked throughout the year to give voice to the area’s creative community and to strengthen collaboration between the two cities, sharing ideas, needs, and proposals to improve their shared artistic journey. The works on display in Gradisca (at Via Cesare Battisti 30 – until Saturday, 29 November) range from painting to installations, from sound experimentation to digital and poetic works: a diverse ensemble that invites visitors to pause and observe, highlighting the cultural plurality of a territory that has always thrived on exchange and cross-pollination. Exhibiting artists include: María Sánchez Puyade; Sun Hee Moon; Pateletso Mokgotle; Saša Nemec; Tamara Mihalič; Giorgio Bottò; Cristina Suligoi; Olga Danelone; Antonina Dragan; Shanti Sergi Sergas; Andrea Verzegnassi; Daniele Meucci; Pier Toffoletti; Moreno Biasi; Guglielmo Donzella; Liviana Nicoli; Diego Valentinuzzi. The welcoming and relaxed atmosphere of the exhibition also connects contemporary creativity with the region’s finest wine productions: a meeting of art and wine that reflects the same attention to materials, to the territory, and to the search for authenticity that has characterized the Noè Prize for sixty years.
The initiative is part of a broader process which, throughout 2025, has seen the EGTC GO promote opportunities for dialogue between artists and other local stakeholders. Also this weekend, visitors will be able to tour the studios of Mokgotle and Danelone, in Fagagna and Udine respectively—appointments in the open-studio calendar in which María Sánchez Puyade in Trieste and Sun Hee Moon in Grado have already taken part.
