Two Days of Exchange on Cross-Border Cooperation Models: visit of the EGTC Kvarken Council to EGTC GO

On Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 May, EGTC GO had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from the EGTC Kvarken Council — the Swedish-Finnish counterpart and the northernmost EGTC in Europe — to Gorizia and Nova Gorica.
The delegation included 11 representatives from the cities of Umeå (Sweden) and Vaasa (Finland), among them the Director of the Kvarken Council EGTC, Mathias Lindström. During the meetings, participants shared their cross-border cooperation experience, highlighting in particular the case of the maritime link that connects the two shores of the Gulf of Bothnia. A ferry, operating several times a day, covers the more than 80 km distance in approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.
The visit was a valuable opportunity to compare two different cooperation models, allowing an exchange on the management of EU-funded projects, sharing of operational approaches, and discussion of ideas and proposals in view of the 2028–2034 EU programming period.
For EGTC GO, it was a highly meaningful occasion — both for the dialogue with a geographically and structurally larger EGTC, and for the recognition received, since the delegation expressed great appreciation for our work methods.
