The GO! GAMES are back: Saturday, May 17th

GO! Games: cross-border neighbourhood games between the municipalities of Gorizia, Nova Gorica and Šempeter-Vrtojba.
After last year's success, the GO! Games, the cross-border neighbourhood games organised as part of GO! 2025, are back.
This year's edition - the second - includes a programme full of novelties, also in view of an ever-growing adhesion on the part of the neighbourhoods involved. As many as 14 teams will take to the field at Baiamonti Park, in Piazza San Rocco: Nova Gorica 1, Nova Gorica 2, Nova Gorica 3, Solkan, Šempeter-Vrtojba, Lucinico, San Rocco-Sant'Anna, Piuma-San Mauro-Oslavia, Piedimonte, Madonnina, Sant'Andrea, Straccis-Montesanto-Piazzutta, Gruppo Sportivo Ricreativo Dipendenti Comunali di Gorizia and GECT GO.
In the year of the European Capital of Culture, culture will be central, as well as sport and, of course, the desire to get involved.
Opening the games right from the morning will be the Italian and Slovenian children with the GO! Games for Schools, the games designed to involve even the youngest children, who will compete in exciting games and challenges.
In the afternoon, at 2.30 p.m., the actual games will start with a big parade to Baiamonti Park, which will be the theatre for the challenges between the neighbourhoods.
Officially inaugurating the GO! Games will be the mayors of Gorizia, Nova Gorica and Šempeter-Vrtojba.
The neighbourhood teams will then engage in various activities: some members will be involved in fun group games, while others will be engaged in the briscola tournament and in the great treasure hunt, which will test the participants' knowledge with intriguing riddles and which will take them to eight symbolic locations between Salcano, Gorizia, Nova Gorica and Šempeter-Vrtojba.
The initiative, however, will not end with the end of the games and the awarding of prizes to the most outstanding teams: from 8 p.m. onwards there will be live music, for a moment of cross-border celebration to be shared all together.
The initiative is conceived and organised by the Municipality of Gorizia, in collaboration with the GECT GO and the Municipalities of Nova Gorica and Šempeter-Vrtojba
