On Friday, September 12th, the event “Europe – Cultures in Dialogue” took place in Gorizia, promoted by the Archdiocese of Gorizia, Voce Isontina, the association I Visionari, and Città dell’Uomo, with the support of numerous cross-border organizations as part of GO! 2025. The initiative featured the European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, Marta Kos, who engaged in dialogue with the editors of the region’s main newspapers.

The EGTC GO – European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation was honored to host the meeting at its headquarters, providing a space for discussion that highlighted the value of culture as a bridge between communities and countries. Among those attending the evening were the President of EGTC GO, Paolo Petiziol, Director Romina Kocina, and Deputy Director Tomaž Konrad, along with numerous institutional and civic representatives.

Before the event, EGTC GO presented the European Commissioner with special gifts made by the Sartoria Sociale of Gorizia, a project supported by the Interreg Italy–Slovenia 2014–2020 program under the Salute–Zdravstvo initiative. The project is based on reusing GO! 2025 banners and other discarded textiles, which are transformed into practical and creative items such as pouches, card holders, and luggage tags. The initiative pursues a dual mission: on one hand, promoting the circular economy and reducing waste; on the other, fostering social and professional inclusion for vulnerable individuals, who at the tailoring workshop find opportunities for training, social interaction, and employment. It is a model that combines environmental awareness with social responsibility, fully aligned with the values of GO! 2025 and with the activities that EGTC GO has carried out since its foundation.

These objects are not just mementos of the events leading up to 2025, but also tangible symbols of the values that EGTC GO aims to share with the territory and its guests: going beyond borders to truly be a Capital of a European Culture.
