EGTC GO in Brussels for an OECD conference
The experience of the EGTC GO as an example for other cross-border regions: director Romina Kocina spoke at a OECD conference in Brussels in recent days on the topic of cross-border governance as a lever for development.
The two-day event, part of the Building more resilient cross-border regions project, was held at the Thon Hotel in the Belgian capital and was attended by about a hundred experts on cross-border issues from all over Europe. Director Kocina, invited by the organisers, was one of the speakers at the afternoon panel on 18 June on the topic of funding and financing of cross-border authorities and projects. In her presentation, she gave an overview of the EGTC GO mission and its projects, with a focus on ITI projects (Salute-Zdravstvo, Isonzo-Soča) and SPF projects, which are still ongoing. He explained to the participants the process regarding SPF projects and the lessons learnt from these funding experiences.
The conference also discussed a tool and its framework regarding cross-border governance, which is based on the preliminary results of the Building more resilient cross-border regions project, carried out by the OECD with funding and support from the European Commission. Various aspects and issues concerning cross-border authorities in five regions were examined, with the aim of enhancing cross-border cooperation, coordinated development of policies and services for cross-border authorities, and the development of cross-border services.
The news about the conference has been published on the European Commission's website too: LINK
