European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation in Italy: CNR presents its Research Report
On Monday, 17 November 2025, at the Central Library of the National Research Council (CNR) in Rome, the research report on European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation (EGTCs) in Italy was presented. The event marked the conclusion of the programme dedicated to strengthening European territorial cooperation, promoted by the ITALIAE Project – of which DARA is a beneficiary – together with CNR–ISSIRFA.
The event served as an important moment of dialogue between institutions and EGTCs with Italian participation, aimed at sharing the research findings and highlighting future perspectives for European territorial cooperation.
EGTC GO was included as one of the case studies analysed in the research. Romina Kocina, Director of EGTC GO, and Ezio Benedetti, EU Projects Manager, took part in the event and contributed to the discussion by sharing reflections on the role of EGTC GO as a model of cross-border governance between Italy and Slovenia, and on its impact on the Gorizia–Nova Gorica area.
The meeting underlined the growing importance of EGTCs in Italy as tools to strengthen European cooperation, improve governance in border regions, and promote long-term, place-based strategies.
The full study will be available soon.
