On the occasion of the Interreg GO! event of these days, the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of Cohesion and Reforms Raffaele Fitto met yesterday at the City Hall the Mayor of Gorizia, Rodolfo Ziberna, together with the Minister for Relations with the Parliament, Luca Ciriani, the Regional Councillor Barbara Zilli, the President of the EGTC GO, Paolo Petiziol and the Director of the EGTC GO Romina Kocina.

Vice-President Fitto was presented with the document "Gorizia, Nova Gorica and Šempeter-Vrtojba, the border as a symbol of dialogue in Europe: from theatre of war to laboratory of peace", concerning the path taken by the cross-border territory to overcome the border and the steps still to be taken. The document was drawn up in agreement between the Municipality and the EGTC GO. Mr. Fitto remarked that the choice of Gorizia and Nova Gorica as the venue of the annual Interreg event is a significant signal of attention, because the cross-border cooperation policy in this reality represents an important example in terms of results achieved. And this is why the great message and symbolic value of the European Capital of Culture Nova Gorica-Gorizia must also be a basis for building policies for the future, were his words.
