The exhibition Obiettivo GO! 2025 by Pierluigi Bumbaca celebrates the extraordinary year of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025 Nova Gorica – Gorizia, a year lived in one breath, in a whirlwind of events that revitalized and brought new energy to both cities.

The exhibition journey picks up more or less where the previous exhibition Obiettivo confine, by the same author, left off: on February 8, 2025, with the thrilling inauguration of the Capital, embraced by the highest authorities of both Slovenia and Italy. A few days earlier, the renewed Transalpina Square (Slovenian: Trg Evrope), the symbol and beating heart of the Capital, was inaugurated. Here, GO! 2025 begins and concludes with the official closing ceremony, meticulously documented by Bumbaca.

Between these two moments, an intense year unfolded, filled with events of all kinds for every type of audience: from open-air concerts to international conferences, from spectacular sports to European-scale events for professionals. There were also neighbourhood games, food and wine festivals, and tributes to the two Heads of State.

These colorful, lively photographs complement the previous, the oldest ones being black-and-white. They tell the story of the territory’s evolution, its journey, the present, and the future. They serve as memory, remembrance, documentation, archive: but above all, they remind us that Pierluigi Bumbaca was there, always, and he caught these moments. Together with his trusted collaborators, he was a reporter, participant, attentive eye, ready to document an extraordinary year of Gorizia’s history.
