Infoday: SANITAS Project and Cross-Border Cooperation in Healthcare
The SANITAS project focuses on the shared challenge of adapting to climate change and improving responsiveness to natural disasters through strengthened cross-border cooperation between Italy and Slovenia. Its goal is to enhance the effectiveness of preventive and operational measures by upgrading equipment, developing skills, and improving the integration of teams on both sides of the border.
An important part of the project is also strengthening the capacities of healthcare and emergency services, contributing to greater accessibility and quality of health services in emergency situations.
The main objective of the project is the development and implementation of a cross-border protocol in primary healthcare, which will enable faster, better-coordinated, and more effective healthcare delivery across the border, particularly in the event of natural disasters.
Why are we organizing a participatory event?
In preparing the cross-border protocol, we want to include the experiences of people living or working in the border area.
Are you a Slovenian or Italian citizen who:
- lives in Italy/Slovenia?
- works in Italy/Slovenia?
- frequently crosses the border between Italy and Slovenia?
If so, we invite you to share your experiences with us.
We are particularly interested in:
- whether you have experienced difficulties accessing primary healthcare services in Italy if you are a Slovenian resident, or in Slovenia if you are an Italian resident
- whether you sought healthcare services in Italy because you could not obtain them in Slovenia in a timely manner, or vice versa
- whether you encountered limitations in home care due to the border,
- whether you faced other obstacles in using cross-border healthcare services.
Such situations are common in the border area. By identifying and understanding them, we can help shape solutions that are better adapted to the real needs of the population.
The final part of the event will be dedicated to a broader discussion of cross-border challenges, with a focus on the active participation of residents in identifying and addressing shared issues.
